Collecting for July’s Donation

Collecting for July's Donation

It’s amazing how fast the days fly by, it’s that time of the month again Ilhaam Foodbank Rotherham are already planning collecting for July’s donation.

Collecting for July’s Donation

June has seen a very busy and spiritual time for Muslim households, as it has been the holy month of Ramadan. This month has been a time of reflection, gratefulness and empathy for our neighbours, whether Muslim or non-Muslim.

In June of this year each fast has lasted up to 19 hours (and more towards the end of the 30 day fasting period). At the end of every fast we have all been grateful for the plentiful supply of food and water. What’s more most of us have the luxury of choosing what we want to eat.. and of how much we want to eat!

Unfortunately, too many people in Rotherham are going hungry everyday and the dependence upon foodbanks is on the increase. This is where we pray that your generosity extends for another month?

Items most needed this month

Listed below are items needed for this month’s collection. Please note that if you don’t have any of these items we will gladly take whatever food items you have! IF ALL YOU ARE ABLE TO DONATE IS ONE TIN OF FOOD WE WILL GLADLY TAKE IT…

[su_box title=”THE IMPORTANCE OF CHARITY” style=”soft” box_color=”#20e262″]

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Every Muslim has to give in charity.” The people then asked: “(But what) if someone has nothing to give, what should he do?” The Prophet replied: “He should work with his hands and benefit himself and also give in charity (from what he earns).”

The people further asked: “If he cannot find even that?” He replied: “He should help the needy who appeal for help.” Then the people asked: “If he cannot do (even) that?”

The Prophet said finally: “Then he should perform good deeds and keep away from evil deeds, and that will be regarded as charitable deeds.
